The Space Renaissance Manifesto
“Open space and its resources to the people of Earth, expand Civilization beyond Earth boundaries.”
The Space Renaissance Manifesto is the founding document of the movement. It was approved online by the founders in 2009, a year after the Space Renaissance idea was first expressed at the Belgirate convention, and it led to the incorporation of Space Renaissance International in Torino in 2010.
Its goal fits in one sentence: to open space and its resources to the people of Earth, and to expand civilization beyond Earth’s boundaries. The Manifesto argues that a civilization closed inside one planet cannot solve its global problems, and that the answer lies in civilian space development — people, not only astronauts, living and working in space.

The historical Renaissance, with its patronage of the arts and sciences, is the model: a New Renaissance, not a revolution. In 2017 the movement restated these ideas in the Declaration of the Space Renaissance.
